So sorry this is late! Due to internet issues (I had this post completed earlier today and was literally just about to hit "Post" when the internet went down and everything was erased….ahhh!)
BUT….today is the feastday of St. Aquinas (or at least was for some)…what a cool saint! And yes, he was a super smart guy, earning the rarely given title of "Doctor" in the Church. So for all of you intellectuals out there…here's a saint for you!!!
If you take a look at the Saints Fun Facts image that I gratefully was able to borrow from Catholic Online, it gives some info. that sheds light into his impressive educational background and his amazing works and teachings that had such an enormous affect on Church teaching.
He had a rough start to his calling….his family refused to allow him to become a priest. Eventually, his mother helped him to escape through a window because she felt that escape would be a better option compared to appearing as if the family supported him.
His life also involves mystery: One day, he was seen crying and levitating while in prayer at a chapel. He had a quick discussion with God, then something happened afterwards that he never divulged to any soul. He immediately changed his lifestyle and quit his writing against much protest.
I can't help but be very curious as to just what it was that happened that day!
So, today, let's take a second and thank St. Thomas for being such a gift to the world and for his great service to God.
And, yes, to you Whovians out there….I do believe that were we to meet him today and discuss theology, he might just say, "Trust me…I'm the Doctor!"
Have a blessed day!
